Nate Berkus and boyfriend Jeremiah Brent engaged after nine months of dating

Chicago interior decorator Nate Berkus was engaged to his boyfriend of nearly nine months Jeremiah Brent on Monday (April 8, 2013). The 41-year-old TV personality and Oprah protege proposed to Rachel Zoe's former assistant while they were in Peru, completely surprising his beau because the couple were actually on a business trip. Joined by some friends, the two celebrated the blessed news on top of the famed Machu Picchu after dating for almost nine months. Nate Berkus first stepped out publicly with his boyfriend Jeremiah Brent in December 2012 when they were spotted ice-skating and later kissing in Barneys. Before being linked to Brent, the reality television star romanced his ex-boyfriend, photographer Fernando Bengoechea, who presumably died while they were on vacation during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami in Sri Lanka. Nate Berkus also dated footwear designer Brian Atwood from 2007 to 2009. He and his love interest Jeremiah Brent are now hoping to be parents soon through a surrogate mother.

Nate Berkus asked his boyfriend Jeremiah Brent to marry during their trip to Peru on Monday (April 8, 2013). They were on a shopping trip with executives of home furniture company One Kings Lane for a designer sale project Berkus is working on for the firm.

Nate Berkus’ boyfriend Jeremiah Brent was apparently completely blown over by the proposal because the lovebirds were traveling for Nate's job.

The former assistant to Rachel Zoe lived in Los Angeles while his partner was based in New York, but they split their time on both coasts.

Nate Berkus appeared regularly on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" until the series ended its run in 2010. The 41-year-old reality star then started to host his own daytime talk series "The Nate Berkus Show," which lasted two seasons.

Nate Berkus, who released the book, "The Things That Matter" last October, currently has a home interior line available at Target.

Nate Berkus, a talented and dashing interior designer who built a reputation designing spaces for Oprah Winfrey, was photographed attending the Target Dollhouse event at Grand Central Station, Vanderbilt Hall on Monday (May 6, 2013). The 41-year-old was accompanied by his fiance Jeremiah Brent, Rachel Zoe's former assistant. The couple, who were dating for eight-and-a-half months before Nate Berkus popped the question atop Machu Picchu in Peru, were dressed casually for the occasion. They looked very happy as they flashed their million smiles and posed for pictures at the event. The day before, Nate Berkus and his boyfriend Jeremiah Brent were also seen stepping out in New York City after enjoying a lunch together. The newly engaged pair seemed to be in good spirits as they walked their dog during the stroll on the street. Both kept it simple for the outing, with Nate Berkus wearing his favorite denim look and his beau Jeremiah going for the greys and army greens.

The guys walked their dog after having lunch in New York on Sunday (May 5).

Nate Berkus and his fiance Jeremiah Brent were seen sharing a sweet kiss while they strolled hand-in-hand around New York City’s West Village.

Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent rocked nearly identical denim outfits, with both wearing denim shirts and trousers with black tops underneath. The happy pair also covered their eyes with aviator sunglasses and kept their tresses in a similar style.
